Jewellers show coaching delivers 10 times more than it costs
Many congratulations to the L&D Team at Signet Trading on delivering a return on investment of around 1000% on their coaching programme for shop floor staff working within jewellery chain H. Samuel.
Presenting to a session at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s HRD Conference on 6th April, the team showed how rigorous evaluation of their programme was able to demonstrate a return of £732,891 against an investment of just £71,814. The evaluation also demonstrated that the store’s customers experienced a higher level of service and an increase in positive staff opinion of around 20% compared to the previous year.
These are outstanding results that everyone involved should be proud of. I guess we all know that coaching adds value, both to the organisation and to the people being coached. Demonstrating that value though, which for us is the next logical step, is something that many organisations fail to follow through on. However, doing so adds so much additional value to the organisation as an activity in its own right. It not only helps us to fully recognise and celebrate our success but it also significantly strengthens our hand when making the case for further future investment.
